The City of Vaasa is opening a new one-stop service hub in Palosaari, bringing together several essential everyday services under one roof. VAASA Point, due to open in the F11 building of the Palosaari Business Centre (Wolffintie 36) in late spring 2027, aims to make dealing with official matters easier by enabling customers to handle several errands in a single visit.

The new VAASA Point service hub will host Ostrobothnia Employment Services, Integration Services and Welcome Office, Housing Advisory Service, Citizen Services, Employment Unit services as well as mediation in criminal and civil cases, among other services.

The new service hub will also house the International House concept. International House Vaasa provides services primarily for the region’s international residents, offering advice and guidance on matters such as language skills, housing, education, and employment.

– VAASA Point will be an open and flexible service hub that other authorities and partner organisations can also make use of. The new service hub supports the goal for the city’s service network that was set already in the previous strategy period: a move towards more centralised services. The aim is to make everyday dealings smoother for residents by bringing essential services together under one roof, says Jari Karjalainen, Director of Corporate Administration for the City of Vaasa.

New premises support smooth access to services

VAASA Point will be located in the F11 building of the Palosaari Business Centre. As part of the refurbishment, the building will be comprehensively modernised, with full respect for its cultural and historical value and its protected façade. The building’s external appearance will remain unchanged, while the interior spaces and technical building services will be fully renovated to meet the requirements of modern office use. The refurbishment work is planned to continue until March 2027.

– The refurbishment of the new premises places a strong emphasis on functionality and ease of use. The goal is to create a service hub where moving around and finding the right services is as smooth and simple as possible, says Olivia Åkers, Project Manager for the City of Vaasa.

The different services will move into the new premises in phases, starting in early summer 2027. A total of around 120 employees will eventually move to VAASA Point.
