Vaasa Swimming Hall to reopen on 17 August

Published: 14.8.2026

Vaasa Swimming Hall will reopen after its summer break on Monday 17 August. The swimming hall’s 50-metre pool has been divided into 25-metre lanes using a movable bulkhead for the rest of the year.

Swimmers should note that the 50-metre pool has been divided into two 25-metre sections using a movable bulkhead until the end of 2026.

All eight lanes in the pool have been divided in half, so only 25-metre lanes will be available until the end of the year.

Ministry supports swimming instruction in basic education

The temporary change to the 50-metre pool has been made, among other things, to enhance swimming instruction for children and young people.

The Ministry of Education and Culture has awarded Vaasa’s basic education a €14,100 grant to support swimming instruction.

The grant aims to strengthen swimming instruction in basic education and improve pupils’ swimming and water safety skills.

– It is easier to organise swimming lessons in 25-metre lanes, and this also means that more lanes are available for use, says Jarkko Tuovinen, Manager of Vaasa Swimming Hall.
