AHTI -Alueellista huoltovarmuutta turvaava idea

Regional security of supply is aimed to be strengthened with the AHTI-project in the costal region of Finland. In the pilot project a movable seawater plant or container is tested to produce drinking water from seawater. Drinking water could then be produced with the seawater container in a case of a long lasting severe incident. The idea of the project is to develop co-operation between municipal water service companies in the coastal area. Pietarsaaren Vesi and Oulun Vesi are also taking part in the project. The project is accepted to the National Emergency Supply Agencys financing program ALUE 2030. If the project and pilot plant are successful a continuation goal is to get several seawater container plants along the coastline area. That way more capacity to produce drinking water in a severe incident could be obtained to the needed area in a reasonable timeline.
