Kieli vahvaksi/ Stärk språket

The project strengthens the structures of second-language instruction (S2) and a language-aware educational culture. The project is bilingual and covers both Finnish- and Swedish-language basic education, promoting the coherent development of teaching practices across both language groups. Its goal is to ensure high-quality, equitable, and transparent instruction that supports students’ language development, learning, integration, and active participation in society.

The project includes the development of the local curriculum, shared operating models, and educational materials, as well as the systematic training of staff. Development teachers support everyday educational work and help ensure that the new practices become firmly established. The activities will be permanently integrated into the structures of the education provider in both Finnish- and Swedish-language basic education, supporting the City of Vaasa’s strategic objectives of providing high-quality, child-friendly, and internationally oriented education
