The Arctic ice is retreating due to climate change. The region’s once inaccessible raw materials have caught the attention of major world powers.

First the insects die, then the birds and then the humans. In parts of Central Europe, as many as 70% of all insects are extinct and even the birds are less. In China there are no more insects in some places and humans have to pollinate the plants themselves. The film shows in an impressive way the decline of insects and birds. The authors show a variety of causes and offer solutions.

Pihkaa sielussa -film is based on an early summer canoe trip on a wilderness river. The incredibly wonderful Finnish nature with its forests and swamps is starring the film. However, in addition to observing nature and its changes, the hike also creates a reflective journey into the history of the filmmaker’s lifelong relationship with nature and to the present day.  Film director Arttu Kotisara and cinematographer Hannele Heikkinen will be present at the screening.

Vasiliki Kappa: Take a trip to the Invisible Cities

A series of paintings that came to life in 1998. Artist Vasiliki Kappa has been working on the same idea for fifteen years. This series was first presented to the public in 2002 at a private exhibition in Athens. It is her most famous work to date. In 2014, the exhibition was on display at the Vaasa City Library during the Vaasa Wildlife Festival, at the Korsnäs Library in January 2015 and at the European Hall in Helsinki in 2017.
