Viola player Lilli Maijala and clarinetist Christoffer Sundqvist are both among the most prominent domestic masters of their instruments, experienced chamber musicians, and luminous soloists.
In Max Bruch’s double concerto, full of late Romantic patina, they will have the opportunity to show their versatile talents. The solo works are framed by two of the most important bird-themed works in Finnish music. Sibelius’ melancholic Scene with Cranes and Einojuhani Rautavaara’s Cantus Arcticus sing their greetings to all nature lovers in the languages of birds.
