One of our national traumas was overcome in 2006, when Lord’s blood-stopping Hard Rock Hallelujah brought Finland a long-awaited Eurovision victory. But there have always been some great songs composed in Finland that just haven’t matched the pan-European taste required for success.
This concert will include a wide range of such hits from different decades. They will be sung by two soloists: Hanna Pakarinen, who has herself performed in the Eurovision Song Contest, and Mikael Konttinen, who has excelled in the Contest for New Music UMK. Conductor Antti Rissanen also claims full marks from the orchestra with his brilliant arrangements.
