The music activities of the Congregation of Mustasaari have long been one of the pillars of cultural life in the region. The parish’s pride, the chamber choir Psallite, is already celebrating its 50th anniversary, and the only slightly older Vaasa City Orchestra joins in the grand celebration. The orchestra’s flautist and Psallite’s conductor, the versatile Erica Nygård, has assembled a program that, alongside familiar choral works, includes a remarkable rarity: Ottorino Respighi’s Christmas-themed Lauda per la natività del Signore. The concert is crowned by internationally acclaimed vocal soloists, soprano Therese Karlsson, Croatian soprano Josipa Bilic, who shone in the final of the latest Mirjam Helin Competition, and tenor Roland Liiv, one of the soloists of the Finnish National Opera.
