Master plan

Master plan

The master plan is a comprehensive, municipal land use plan, which guides and coordinates the overall location of various functions such as housing, services, places of employment and recreational areas.

The master plan can cover the entire municipality or a particular area, which is then called a component master plan.

  • The plan for participation and assessment for the Vaasa master plan 2040 is now available for review. During 10.5.-30.6.2023 it is possible to present opinions on the plan, which outlines the main goals of the master plan and explains how you are able to participate in the planning process as well as who are the participating parties. By answering the questionnaire, you can provide the planners with valuable background information concerning, for example, places that are important to you. Everyone interested in the plan or in developing the city of Vaasa are welcome to the information- and workshop events, arranged during the month of May in various locations in Vaasa.

  • The component master plan covers the Vaskiluoto area, a total area of about 5 km2, of which about 2,5 km2 is water. The goal of the planning is, among other things, to utilize the possibilities and potential of Vaskiluoto as a part of Vaasa and the Vaasa region, to create prerequisites for an area city centre in Vaskiluoto as well as to reconcile various interests and uses in the area.
