AKI KUMAR (USA) BOLLYWOOD BLUES SHOW
Aki Kumar grew up in Mumbai, India but settled in California in the late 1990s. There he has since built up an international career as a blues singer and harmonica. Kumar uniquely combines his own Indian roots to American root music, and he describes his own style as Bollywood Blues. Kumar, who gives about 200 concerts a year, has just signed a record deal with Sony India and released the first single Dilruba. Kumar makes his first gig in Vaasa in connection with his tour of the Nordic countries.

QUIQUE GÓMEZ & HIS VIPERS (ESP)
Quique Gómez from Madrid has during his career released over ten albums and toured on five continents. Also this year, Gómez has been able to play in Ukraine, Mexico and the USA. This skilled harmonica and singer has learned the traditional blues through collaboration with many American blues legends, such as Muddy Water’s guitarist John Primer. Gómez is also playing for the first time in Vaasa and is coming to town with his Spanish quintet The Vipers.

PEPE AHLQVIST DUO
Finnish blues pioneer Pepe Ahlqvist was awarded the Finnish Blues Awards Life Works Prize in 2017. Ahlqvist first became known as a chorus player and singer in Chicago Overcoat in the 70s and later led many successful bands (including H.A.R.P. and SF Blues). Ahlqvist is a versatile artist who plays in many different constellations from solo performances to big band concerts. Ahlqvist, who has received a lot of international attention as a harmonica, is also a good guitarist, and he opens this year’s main event with a duo concert together with guitarist Jonne Kulluvaara.
