Öjberget

At the winter sports center Öjberget, you can go downhill and cross-country skiing and engage in outdoor activities. In the winter there are also a children’s slope and a sledding hill with much fun for the whole family. On the premises, there is a grill hut where you can barbecue sausages and a ski lodge where Vaasa Ski Club has a café.

During spring, summer and autumn the terrain at Öjberget are perfect for outdoor activities such as hiking and biking. On the mountain, there is also the fitness staircase with 271 steps, open to everyone.  The stairs are closed in winter.

The nature trail at Öjberget is well worth a visit – walk from the Öjbergmossen bog to giant’s pot hole and over a devil’s field to the dwarfed pine-tree-covered meteorite crater rim of Söderfjärden. On the top of the slope there is also a look out tower.

 

Slalom slopes

    • Three slalom slopes; the elevation difference is 45 m.
    • The slopes are: 200 m, 250 m, and 325 m long.
    • Tow lift.
    • 1 large box, 1 small box, 4 rails.
    • Children’s slope, 45 m long, with its own free of charge carpet lift for children.
      Note! In heavy snowfall, the children’s carpet lift must be closed for the duration of the snowfall, as the safety system continuously stops the lift.

Ski rental and café Öjberget

Vasa Skidklubb offers ski rental service and they also run the café at Öjberget. The cafe is open when the slopes are open. More information about the ski rental at Vasa skidklubb’s web page.

 

 

Children's Sledding hill and the grill hut

Sledding Hill

Next to the children’s down hill slope there you find a safe sledding hill for children.
Parking area near the slope.
The lighting on the hill is on at the same time as street lighting.

  • Bring your own packed lunch and enjoy! (Bring your own matches and sausage sticks)

Skiing tracks

Mechanically maintained cross-country ski tracks; 1.2 km (first snow trail), 3 km, 4 km, and 5 km illuminated trails. The terrain is interesting and varied.

Also a practice track for the youngest family members.

Outdoor fitness staircase

At Öjberget, there is a fitness staircase, which is open to everyone.

The fitness staircase is 145 meters long, the elevation difference from the ground to the top is 40 meters, and it has 271 steps. The staircase has two resting platforms where benches are also available. Handrails are present on both sides of the staircase.

During the winter, the fitness staircase is not maintained, as the slope is used as a slalom slope. It is not allowed to walk on the staircase with spiked shoes, and cycling is also prohibited.
