Main Library spaces floor by floor

 

First floor:

  • Newspapers and Magazines: In the newspaper reading room, you can read all the magazines and newspapers of the Main Library. In this section, there are also several computers for public use.
  • Info desk: At the info desk, you can apply for a library card and PIN-code, pick up reservations and pay any late fees and printouts.
  • The Children’s and Youth Section offers library materials for children and young people. In this section, you can also attend events or spend time reading, playing or playing video games.
  • Reading, lounge and exhibition spaces: various kinds of spaces for reading, group work, relaxation and exhibitions.

 

The book drop, also available for use outside opening hours, is located on the side of the building facing Ratakatu.

 

Second floor:

  • Adult Section: In this section, you will find fiction and non-fiction books, CDs, sheet music, films, TV-series, console games and board games. Also available in the Adult Section:
  • The book collection of the Hanken School of Economics
  • The collection of the Faculty of Law (University of Helsinki)
  • The regional collection Vasaensis
  • In addition, the second floor offers plenty of study spaces, the event space Venny, the art gallery Teema, the reservable space Dialogi and the sound room Toivo.

 

Third floor:

  • The study space Harmonia: a quiet space with reading spaces and group work possibilities.
