The law requires that dogs are kept on leash and dog waste is collected
Dog should be kept on a leash in public areas. Unless specifically permitted, dogs are not allowed to access children’s playgrounds, public beaches, public ski slopes and sports grounds, or when the market is open on the market square.
Dog waste must be collected. Failure to comply with the law may result in a fine. It is advisable to bring plastic bags for collection, which can then be placed in the nearest general rubbish bin. There are 25 Tickspac waste-bag dispensers in the City of Vaasa, where bags are provided for collecting dog waste.
