This year, the Night of the Arts will be arranged in Vaasa on 10 August, 2023. The event will once again be celebrated in the carnival spirit which is hoped to be seen in both the programme and among the participants. Registration for the programme will be open until 31 May.

You can sign up for the Night of the Arts programme throughout the spring. This year, the last day to register is on 31 May, 2023.

The online registration form opens on the City of Vaasa’s website on 15 February. The website has its own forms for groups participating in the carnival procession, local bands and all other performances related to the Night of the Arts.

The programme is expected to include a wide variety of content from both artists and associations as well as clubs. This year, the Night of the Arts will be celebrated again in the carnival spirit, and the August celebration will once more feature a carnival parade, which received a great reception last summer, both among the participating groups and the general public.

Various groups, associations and ensembles can register for the popular carnival procession. Each group participating in the procession builds an assembly or float suitable for the theme, with which they present themselves to the carnival public. Finally, the public gets to vote for their favourite.

–  Last year, the procession featured 13 colourfully-dressed groups who played their own music and danced as the procession progressed. The carnival will continue this year as well, and we hope that even more groups, clubs and communities will join us to celebrate the community and diversity of Vaasa with their presence, says Cultural Planner Andrea Frondelius-Kovács from the City of Vaasa Cultural and Library Services.

The cultural planner advises that you should sign up well in advance and start planning your own show or even your own carnival float.
