Published: 23.2.2021

The Vaasa City Library will move to the Finna online library from 1 March 2021. The change to the online library does not require any special actions from library customers, but customer loans, reservations and payments will be automatically transferred to the new system.

The webpage for the new online library is https://vaasankirjasto.finna.fi/

At Finna, you can search for and browse material and new loans, as well as reserve material and make your own favourite lists. Log in with your library card number and PIN code. You can even search for and browse material without logging in.

The change to the online library does not require any special actions from library customers. Customer loans, reservations and payments will automatically transfer to the new system. However, if you have made your own book-reading lists in the old online library, for example, they will not automatically move to the new online library.

The Finna.fi website contains tips on how to search for information as well as other operating instructions to help users take full advantage of the entire service. Vaasa City Library’s Finna online library also contains information about the library’s services, events and exhibitions.

Part of the Finna search services

Vaasa City Library’s Finna online library forms part of the Finna search services. Finna.fi is a national, free of charge, open-source online library, whose development and maintenance is covered by the National Library of Finland. At present, there are 400 archives, museums and libraries whose materials are instantly available from the national Finna.fi search services.

Vaasa’s Finna online library may not be able to display the availability information of all materials just yet, but the full site will be completed soon. Online payment is not yet possible either.
