Vaasa Museums mark the start of the autumn season with open launch events

Vaasa Museums invite the public to celebrate their new autumn exhibitions at open launch events. The free opening events at the Kuntsi Museum of Modern Art, Tikanoja Art Museum and the Ostrobothnian Museum offer visitors the chance to be among the first to explore the new exhibitions, while also enjoying speeches and live music.

The first exhibition of the autumn season is Camera Obscura by Marja Pirilä, one of Finland’s leading photographic artists. The opening event will be held at the Kuntsi Museum of Modern Art on Friday 18 September from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The exhibition runs from 19 September 2026 to 9 January 2027. 

Tikanoja Art Museum will host the opening of the exhibition mÅland – The Önningeby Artists’ Colony on Friday 9 October from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The exhibition showcases some of the most prominent members of Finland’s first artist colony, with a particular focus on its women artists. At the same time, the permanent exhibition Serene Moments and Vibrant Colours, highlighting the collections of the Tikanoja Art Museum, will reopen to the public. Both exhibitions are open from 10 October.  

The third launch event of the autumn season will take place at the Ostrobothnian Museum on Friday 6 November from from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., marking the opening of Fortuna – Games from Cultural History to Contemporary Art. The exhibition explores gaming and gaming culture from a variety of perspectives. The exhibition runs from 7 November 2026 to 7 March 2027. 

Admission to the opening events is free.

Open launch events for the autumn exhibitions
