Strollers, bicycles and pets

Strollers

One adult may travel free of charge with a child in a stroller or pram at any time of day.

The adult must supervise the child throughout the journey and ensure that the stroller or pram does not move or tip over. The wheels must be locked. Strollers must always be brought on and off the bus through the middle door. They should be placed in the designated area so that all passengers can move around and exit the bus safely.

Bicycles

The driver decides on a case-by-case basis whether bicycles, electric scooters, or other large items may be brought on board. During peak hours, the driver may refuse bicycles to ensure there is enough space for passengers.

Bicycles are allowed during off-peak hours: from 9.30 to 13.00, after 17.00, and on weekends. A bicycle fare is charged according to the passenger’s age group and payment method. For example, in addition to an adult single ticket, the bicycle fare is:

1 zone €1.80
2 zones €3.20
3 zones €4.90

Detailed pricing can be found in the fare list.

A folded folding bike carried by hand, as well as small children’s balance bikes, are considered luggage and are not subject to a fee.

Pets

Vaasa’s local transport follows the Finnish Bus and Coach Association’s recommendation for transporting animals. Ordinary, harmless pets may be transported on the bus if accompanied by an owner and at their own risk, provided there is space on board. Pets must be positioned so that they do not cause inconvenience to other passengers. They are not allowed on seats and must not be let loose.

If a passenger with allergies is already on board, they have the right to choose their seat first and may ask the driver to prevent a pet from boarding. However, other passengers cannot prevent a guide or assistance dog from boarding the bus.
