Kela-subsidised school transport ticket
The Waltti travel card can be loaded with a Kela-subsidised school transport ticket for upper secondary students (such as those in lukio or vocational upper secondary education) who are eligible for the school transport subsidy from Kela. The subsidy applies to journeys of more than 7 km and has been available since 1 August 2021.
The eligibility criteria for the ticket are defined in the legislation and regulations governing the school transport subsidy. More detailed information is available on the Kela and Waltti websites.
The Waltti travel card is the primary ticket used for the school transport subsidy in the Vaasa and Vähäkyrö areas. Matkahuolto’s tickets should only be used if travel in both directions between home and school cannot be made using Waltti services.
