The City of Vaasa offers experiences for students in October

Published: 12.10.2023

During week 43, the City of Vaasa is offering university students free or discounted city services, available by showing your student card. The Vaasa City Orchestra, Vaasa City Theatre, Wasa Teater, Vaasa City Museums, Vaasa Sports Services and the city’s public transport system, Lifti, are all participating in the week.

The City of Vaasa welcomes students to the city in the form of the Vaasa <3 Students Week. During this week, taking place from 23 to 29 October, all university students will have the opportunity to discover the services offered by the City of Vaasa free of charge or at a reduced price by showing their student card. The aim is to lower the threshold for students to discover the sports and cultural services that the city offers and to encourage them to discover Vaasa as a city.

Sport and culture – the keys to happiness

With around 13,000 university students, Vaasa is one of the largest student cities in Finland relative to its population. Students are a valuable resource for the city, maintaining its skills and youthfulness. By offering this opportunity, the City of Vaasa wants its strategic themes of happiness and well-being to be more clearly reflected in the everyday lives of the city’s students.

– The focus of Students’ Week is on sport and culture, which have been shown to increase well-being. This year, as a new feature, we have decided to offer students free group exercise classes in the city for the whole week, so it’s a great opportunity to try out different forms of exercise and stay active,” says Mika Lehtonen, Director of the City of Vaasa’s Sports Department.
