Vaasa City Library Joins the National E-library

Starting from April 23, 2024, residents of Vaasa will have access to the Finnish municipalities’ shared E-library. The online service offers a diverse selection of electronic books, audiobooks, and magazines in digital formats. Access is initially provided through a mobile application.

Residents of the affiliated municipalities will be able to access the E-library. The decision to integrate Vaasa into the national E-library was approved by the Vaasa Culture and Sports Committee.

With this update, all materials will be found on a single platform. Users can easily read electronic books, listen to audiobooks, and access digital versions of magazines in the extensive e-library.

Initially, residents will access the shared E-library of municipalities through a mobile application. A website is also on its way. The service will launch on April 23, 2024, in collaboration with the participating municipalities and the National Library. As part of this process, Vaasa City Library will remove overlapping e-services from its offerings, while maintaining the Biblio service alongside for the time being.

The E-library was originally funded by the Ministry of Education and Culture and became part of the National Library’s operations at the beginning of 2024.
