Vaasa City Orchestra continues the summer season with baroque music

The Splendour and Beauty of the Baroque II -concert offers the summer evening an enjoyable mix of music from the masters of the Renaissance and Baroque periods.

The summer season of the Vaasa City Orchestra continues at the Vähäkyrö Church on Thursday, August 6, 2026, at 7 PM. The music for the Baroque Splendor and Beauty II concert is led by the master himself, Petteri Pitko. Pitko has a dual role in the concert, as he also performs as the soloist in Bach’s harpsichord concerto.

Wasa Consort, formed by musicians from the Vaasa City Orchestra, offers rich and colorful music alongside virtuosic harpsichord solos. The ensemble features Elena Hämäläinen and Eero Marttila on viola da gamba and Pontus Grans on violone.

The concert reaches its climax with the music of G. F. Handel, as the whole orchestra brings to life the Water Music and Music for the Royal Fireworks suites.
