Vuorion Säätiön konsertti
Vaasa City Orchestra
cond. Anna-Maria Helsing
sol. Christel Lee, violin & Jonathan Roozeman, cello
Arvo Pärt composed his work Fratres, celebrating brotherhood, with his trusted Estonian musicians in mind. Likewise, Johannes Brahms places the soloists in equal and mutually supportive roles in his Double Concerto. This work, rarely performed in Vaasa, will be interpreted by world-class artists, Christel Lee, winner of the 2015 Sibelius Violin Competition, and cellist Jonathan Roozeman, who gained distinction at a very young age in the Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow. Music overflowing with emotion is also represented by Dobrinka Tabakova’s cello concerto, in which listeners can hear rock rhythms, influences from film music, and echoes of the folk culture of her native Bulgaria.
